Interest in CBD oil has flourished over the last few years, and it is being marketed and sold throughout North America. With all the curiosity has come quickly changing legal regulations and restrictions, new product formulations and new industry terminology. And with all of that change has come some confusion.

The infographic that follows helps clear up the misunderstandings with respect to two highly beneficial and popular products made from the hemp plant that are used for varying reasons.

One of the main causes of confusion about these two oils, as the infographic explains, is the simple issue of terminology. Hemp seed oil is created from hemp plant seeds. CBD oil is created from hemp plant flowers, leaves, stems and stalks. Easy. However, there’s another term, hemp oil, that is also universally used, sometimes as a shortened term for hemp seed oil. However, hemp oil (or full-spectrum hemp oil) is a term used more often as an alternate for CBD oil.

Hemp seed oil is abundant in nutrients and has been used from time immemorial as a beauty and nutrition aid. While its benefits for the skin and overall health are easily understood, the recent increase in popularity of CBD, along with a widespread interest in natural and holistic products, has stimulated great interest in hemp seed oil products for a wide range of personal needs.

CBD oil, on the other hand, is a new product whose uses and benefits are only now becoming well understood and accepted. Great excitement was created around CBD oil as we found its effective in helping epilepsy. Other medical benefits of CBD were discovered, including the treatment of high blood pressure and acne. Still, much remains to be learned about CBD regarding its uses and dosages. Additionally, CBD oils can be produced through a variety of methods and with variation when it comes to quality control. All of this explains why regulations regarding the sale and use seem to change every day.

Another important thing to note about CBD oil and hemp seed oil: neither product will make you “high.” THC, the ingredient in marijuana that produces the “high” effect, is not present, or is present in only small amounts, in these oils. If that concern has held you back from trying one of these products, you should feel positive about using them and still maintaining your usual mental abilities.
